Ioannis Margetis '15 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ioannis Margetis (Yiannis). I am currently a senior for Archimedean Upper Conservatory. I am a 6'6, 180 pound small forward, but have grown up playing practically every position. Because of my height I have played on several occasions power forward as well as center. Even though this has hurt my game because it has presented me with match ups that will not exist on the next level, it has also benefited me, because I have had to learn to defend, as well as outplay bigger and stronger players.  Currently, coach continues to play me as a power forward/center on the defensive end but has switched me to a shooting guard/small forward on the offensive end, because of my ability to take care of the ball as well run the court in transition. I am an all-around player, also capable of driving and drawing the foul, pulling up off the dribble, and knocking down the outside shot. The high school I currently attend heavily stresses academics and doesn't put much (if any) emphasis on athletics. As a result, my team has not had the opportunity to play beyond the district level yet. However, in my sophomore year I managed to earn the team MVP award leading my team in rebounds and blocks, as well as being second in points and fg percentage. I am still growing in height (although at a slower rate) and can dunk the basketball. I am also eating a lot and lifting a lot to put on as much weight in muscle as possible. I am a motivated and hard-working athlete who knows what it takes to be successful. I am very interested in playing basketball at the next level and will continue to work hard until I achieve my goal.
