I have many long term goals that I have set for myself that include finishing at the top of my class in high school and playing field hockey at the collegiate level. I also have short term goals that I try to reach daily to help me achieve those long term goals. In field hockey, it's important to me to always ask questions and keep trying to improve on my skills until I learn something new and apply that to what I have already learned. I think I would make a great candidate on any team because I am constantly learning and working to improve. My work ethic is like none other. This summer I was selected for the National Futures Championship tournament and it was an awesome experience, much like when my Bluegrass team won medals at both the Disney Talent Showcase and the National Field Hockey Festival.
Character-wise, I am all about the team. I don't go to a big field hockey powerhouse high school, but I enjoy being part of my team and I like nothing more than helping make all of my teammates successful on the field. One of the best compliments that I have ever received was in a note from one of my high school coaches this year. She told me that my enthusiasm for the game was refreshing and infectious. I do love this game and want everyone else to want to as well.
The note went on to say that she appreciates how knowledgeable of the game I am. I think this also makes me a great candidate for college ball. I study the game and often watch field hockey matches online on the weekends. My strengths on the field are ball handling and seeing the field. I have had numerous people tell me they think that is my greatest skill. I appreciate that because I believe field knowledge and aggressiveness can't be taught easily.
So far this year on my high school team I have played every forward position, every mid position and even some halfback. My coaches have trust in me and know that I am flexible and can work any position on the field and would never NOT give 110%. I always listen and ask lots of questions. Asking questions will always make you better.
I definitely look forward to playing at the next level and look forward to working with some great coaches and teammates.
