I have been playing field hockey since I was 13 years old, and I’ve always aspired to play at a high level, such as college or further. When I was younger, I struggled to find the right sport, and when I tried field hockey I finally felt like I fitted in. I quickly caught on and decided that I wanted this sport to be my future. I’m a very competitive player, I strive to improve daily and learn from the people around me to be the best version of me that I can. My daily life is mainly filled by something involving field hockey, whether its coaching, reffing, practicing, or playing. Earlier in high school, I had the amazing opportunity to coach a team of girls that were U12, and that made me really think about how much it takes to build up the game brick by brick, and really improved me as a character. I also coach the girls Union Middle School field hockey team 4 days a week during the spring, which has built up my skills to help those around me and look at the bigger picture to improve my game as well. When I made varsity my Sophomore year, it made me realize that I have more potential than I thought I did. I worked really hard to make Varsity, so when I finally found my name on that roster, I realized that hard work really does pay off. I train hard whenever I get the chance to improve as there’s always new skills to learn. I play as a mid for 11v11 usually and mainly forward for indoor and 7v7, as I’m quick and my stick skills are strong. I prefer to use my reverse skills such as reverse lifts, sweeps, and hits. During practices, even though others say it doesn’t make a difference whether we practice or not, I take practice seriously and I always try to always be on time and ready to go and push myself to my full potential even in practices. I try to learn something new from every drill or every scrimmage and take advice from my coaches and teammates very seriously. In academics, I have strong points, and weak points but I push myself to try my hardest and learn to the full potential. I aim for a GPA higher than 3.5 so than I can hold my position as a member of the National Honors Society. I’m looking to go to a college in a higher division not only to push myself as a player and to become a strong leader, but to improve with different team mates to gain more strengths, and to help others improve, as I like to teach people whether its in school or at field hockey.
