My name is William Hass and I am a pitcher and a utility infielder as well as a very good academic student. I am a very coachable player, who can make adjustments and take criticism. I am also a very good team leader who pushes the team to get better; I pick kids up when they are down. I always cheer for my teammates no matter how the game is going or how I am playing. My biggest attribute as a player is not just my athletic ability but my mental capacity. I have a good understanding of the game of baseball and I am very good at letting the last play go. Throughout my career, all my coaches say that I am such a good pitcher because I don’t let the little things bother me and I move on to the next play. I also work well under pressure and am often brought in to get the last out
I am a Sophomore at The Paideia School in Atlanta, Georgia where I am the starting third baseman and a pitcher for the varsity baseball team. I hit second in the lineup and have one of the best on base percentages and one of the top batting averages on the team. My varsity team is tied for first in our region and we are top 15 in the state of Georgia.
I have grown 6 inches in the past year, so my hitting has gone from just being a consistent hitter to a hitter with some power as well as my foot speed and velocity have gone up since last summer. I am currently 6’1” and 150 lbs. I am throwing in the low 80’s, but my coach has just put me on a workout program to help improve my strength and speed.
I have been playing travel baseball since I was 11. I currently play for the East Cobb Steel. I am a starting pitcher and starting utility infielder for this team. I hit second in the lineup. Last summer, my team (the East Cobb Indians) played in three Perfect Game National Tournaments and I was selected to two All-Tournament Teams.
Besides baseball, I love to play basketball and tennis. I recently played on the Junior Varsity Basketball Team for my school and led them in scoring, averaging 16 points a game. I set the school record for most 3 pointers made in a season. I was voted the MVP by my peers and coaches. Tennis is a sport that I play when baseball season is over with my family and friends.
My goal is to play baseball in college. Ideally I would like to play somewhere in the South East but I would widen that search to just about anywhere if I could get the opportunity to play under a great coach that I can learn from and improve as a player. My family will probably need financial assistance, so a school that can help with that will also be a priority. I have not really set my sights on a major, but I could easily see myself wanting to spend the rest of my life doing something with sports.
