My name is Andy Reister. I am a 6’2” right hand, side arm relief pitcher. In my Junior College career I specialized in maintaining the game score and setting up the closing pitcher. I started pitching when I was 8 years old, and converted to side arm in the 7th grade. I played 4 years of High School baseball, including 2 years on the Varsity team, at La Porte High School, in the 21-6A district located Southeast of Houston, TX. In my senior year, I was awarded district honors by the coaches of the other schools in district 21-6A, and was named to the Texas All-State Academic Team in the spring of 2015. After high school, I pitched at San Jacinto College in the fall of 2015 under Coach Tom Arrington then transferred to Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) where I finished the spring with a 3.18 ERA. BPCC finished the 2015/2016 4th in our conference and competed in the NJCAA playoffs in Sugarland, TX. I am currently in my sophomore season at BPCC under new Head Coach Bobby Gilliam.
Academics are also very important to me. I graduated from High School 10th in my Class with a 5.096 GPA. I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a goal of earning a Graduate degree in Aerospace Engineering. I made the Dean’s list two out of the first three semesters of college and currently have a 3.4 GPA. I will complete my associates degree in the spring of 2017. I am a big believer in being a coachable player and leading by example. I have consistently been a team leader in all of the teams I have played on. I believe that to be able to win, we must play as team by contributing wherever and whenever possible on and off the field. My goal is to continue my college baseball career in addition to earning my degree.
