Michael Zgoda '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Michael Zgoda.  I am an accomplished student with a 3.90 unweighted GPA,  4.41 weighted GPA and 1220 on the new SAT.   I was a multi-sport athlete until My freshman year of High School. I chose baseball because of the required level of thinking needed for every player on the field with every pitch.  Baseball requires a unique level of focus and discipline that I embrace.  I have played varsity baseball since 8th grade as an OF  

I have been named to the Perfect Game All-Tournament for pitching and hitting 5 consecutive times as well as being named a Perfect Game Pre-Season Honorable mention. .  

I am pursuing a baseball scholarship, particularly in the southeast.  I am open to quality academic schools of any size that have a great baseball reputation. At this time my interest academically is in the sciences as I hope to become an orthopedic surgeon that specializes in athletic injury repair. 

This past year I was awarded the IronMan award by my team for playing in every inning of every game the entire 35 game season as well as playing with mononucleosis in a sweltering 95 degree Florida tournament.  My high school team is coached by former Lipscomb Baseball Alumni and a professional pitching coach that played his college ball at UNC and professionally with PIttsburgh/Atlanta Minor League Systems.  Last summer I played for the SBA Canes Black, a team ranked 50th nationally out of Matthews, NC. The team is coached by former college and professional coaches as well.  

I love the game of baseball and want to continue my career beyond the high school level. I am confident that with my ability and with hard work that can be a reality.
