April 2016Personal Statement
My name is Asa Runge and I am a member of the class of 2021 at Pinkerton Academy High School in Derry, New Hampshire. I’m taking action now because I truly care about my future – in both school and baseball. I am a leader in every aspect of the word.
I am 6’1" – 195 lbs. of pure athletic madness. I am a starting two-way player for the Pinkerton Academy Varsity Baseball Team, State of New Hampshire, Division I. And, after the school season, I play for:
2017 East Cobb Astros, Marietta, GA (Summer Season)
2017 North East Baseball 18U, Hudson, MA (Fall Season)
2018 North East Baseball 16U, Hudson, MA (Summer/Fall Season)
I pitch left and hit left. I throw consistently up to 85+ mph. And, I have a full arsenal of pitches including a breaking ball, change-up, even a knuckle-curve. And, every one of these pitches leaves the batter stunned and shaking his head.
When I’m not pitching I spend time in RF and 1B. My coaches know that when I’m in the field nothing is getting by me. And, with my arm, I can throw a runner out at any base from deep in the outfield.
In the off-season I lift weights, and play basketball for the Pinkerton Academy Freshman High School Team. I like to compete – and I compete to win. I dream and aspire to play college baseball and obtain a valuable education. I’m a hardworking, determined, and competitive person, who strives to be a great teammate. I’m NOT a know-it-all. I’m respectful to my coaches and always willing to listen and learn from them. Like everyone else, I’m a work-in-progress. But, the difference between me and everyone else is that I WILL work harder than my competition to be the best that I can possibly be.
So, you’ve read about some of my baseball accomplishments, but my determination flows into the classroom as well. I understand that my future success will require a continued commitment to my school work and maintaining a superior GPA.
But, I love the game of baseball. I work harder than my competition to improve myself every day. I am a leader that any school can count on both on and off the field. I don’t disappoint. I don’t make excuses. I am not your average candidate. My dream is to play high level college baseball.

- 2015 Baseball Youth National Futures Team (National Tournament Team)
- This is a National Tournament Team comprised of the top national talent to compete at the Baseball Youth National Future Tournament in Newberry, Florida. Asa's Team took the second spot. Asa was the Tournament Home-Run Derby skills competition.
- 2015 legends prospect (Division I, Elite Baseball League)
- This is the top ranked 12U Division I Team in the Elite Baseball League (EBL) in New England. Asa was names the league MVP for the 2014 season. Asa was ranked the #1 pitcher in the 12U EBL for the 2014 season with 96 strikeouts and a 1.17 ERA. Asa was also the top ranked batter in the EBL with a .603 BA, .642 OBP, and 14 Home-runs. Asa was also named to the EBL All-Star Team for 2014.
